CANADIAN STUDENTS
Secondary School guidance counselors are often burdened with numerous responsibilities. This limits the time they can offer to each student. The result is that a proper and thorough pre-university academic plan, complete with university application support and follow-up is seldom developed.At barclay & knap, we offer the following services for college- or university-bound Canadian students.

We will help define and focus the student's educational goals and career ambitions. To assist in our planning, we will also create inventory of the student's skills, interests, and learning styles. Ontario Secondary School Credits earned to date will also be listed for reference.
Next, we will assist in researching the colleges / universities and academic programs that would best suit the needs and wants of the student and their family.
Once the student and his or her family have had time to review these possibilities, we will arrange a meeting with the student to narrow their focus and create an 'application list' which details all colleges / universities and programs to which the student will apply.
College/university application deadlines vary depending on where a student plans to study. Regardless of the destination, we will help manage all relevant application deadlines by providing a customized timeline for the student, including a 'to do' list of the documents, testing, or support material that the student needs to compile prior to their application date.
As these deadlines arise, we will offer individualized support to each student as they complete their applications. All on-line or written applications will be completed by the student at our offices with counselor oversight.
We will then assist the student in the follow-up and tracking of their applications. Whenever possible we will serve as a liaison between the student and their target colleges/universities and contact the schools on the student's behalf.
As acceptances from the schools begin to arrive, we will meet with the student and their family to sort through the options now available. At this point we may arrange for the student and their family to tour some of the colleges/universities to facilitate a decision.
Once a school and program choice has been made, we'll ensure that proper and timely confirmation is transmitted to the college/university.
If desired, we can provide continuation services during the student's first year of post-secondary education. This entails assistance with course selection, timetabling, and grade monitoring. We can also help direct the student to fully utilize all campus-based resources on offer from their college/university.
